Artruistic

‘‘ANY TIME YOU HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THIS WORLD AND YOU DON’T, THEN YOU ARE WASTING YOUR TIME ON EARTH.” – ROBERTO CLEMENTE

The Origins of Artruistic

The idea came from time spent teaching in the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Many students were interested in art but lacked the funds to participate outside of school. We decided to start a program that would allow students to follow their artistic desires without the need to pay for the opportunity or supplies.

As artists ourselves, we already had supplies on hand – what better way to use them than to offer aspiring artists the chance to paint and draw and let their imaginations flourish. Soon we had people asking about what we did and how we could help them with creating art. We met after school or on weekends. We also got involved with senior centers. People were really responding to the free offer of art.

The name came a little while after when we thought about our main goal.  We were sharing art and we cared about others. It was altruistic art.

It was…Artruistic.

Artruistic is a registered New Jersey non-profit. Our mission is access to arts for all people. We believe the arts are a vital part of our growth in society.
